Description
Replacement thermocouple sensor for TV2. The thermocouple sensor can be used with either wired or wireless sensors and is available as several different types. It can be ordered with a mini plug or with bare tinned wires. The mini plug is for the TV2 wireless sensors. It is plugged into the thermocouple/transmitter enclosure and must be matched to the one removed. The thermocouple type is identified by the color of the mini plug or from the sensor setup page of the TV2 monitor.
Thermocouple sensors all come with a 3″ stainless steel tube which can be placed in liquids or left in the air. They are available as type T, E, J, and K.
Although thermocouple are not as accurate as the TV2 digital sensors or the thermistors used in the TV2 temperature/RH sensors they have very good repeatability. This means that if they show a temperature of -79.3°C under certain conditions they will show the same temperature under identical conditions. This means that it is important to recalibrate thermocouple sensors on a regular basis. Usually annually although when first placed in service they can easily go for two years before needing to be recalibrated.
Thermocouple sensors do degrade over time so when recalibrated should be replaced if they can not be characterized.
